Rutgers one of elite Universities chosen by CFA Institute as partner school
The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter is the gold standard in financial training. Many US colleges offer courses that teach the skills needed to pass the CFA exams. Only 37 of those schools have been chosen by the CFA Institute as partner schools.
Rutgers Business School (RBS) is launching a new Master of Financial Analysis (MFinA) degree which will make Rutgers one of only 10 CFA Institute Partner Schools to offer a one year masters’ degree that helps prepare students to take the CFA exam.
According to the CFA Institute, "partners are typically high profile universities of global stature that embed a significant percentage of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge into their degree programs."
The CFA Institute is no longer accepting universities into the Program Partners program. Rutgers is proud to be a member of this elite set of universities. The Rutgers Master of Financial Analysis degree is designed to cover over 70% of the material covered on the CFA Level I exam. Holding a CFA charter is important for companies when hiring according the CFA Institute:
"Employers recognize the CFA charter as a reliable way to differentiate the most qualified and determined job applicants, frequently listing the CFA charter as a requirement for certain positions. Earning the CFA charter demonstrates the persistence, flexibility, and hard work required of today’s investment professionals."
Rutgers has designed a one-year Masters program to make obtaining a CFA achievable. The program is being led by Professor Dan Weaver, who has published over 25 articles in prestigious finance journals and been widely quoted in newspapers across the country including The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, as well as appearing on CNN and CNBC. Weaver tailored the MFinA program to make it possible for students to be successful when they take the CFA exam.
Instructors from the New York Society of Securities Analysts (NYSSA)will teach a four day intensive CFA review session at the Rutgers campus in late May (between spring finals and the early June CFA Level 1 exam). NYSSA is the largest and one of the oldest member societies of the CFA Institute. All instructors are CFA charter holders with years of experience preparing students to take the CFA exams.
