Gateway and Accelerated Programs

For Undergraduate Students

Fast-track your career!

SAVE MONEY ON GRADUATE TUITION

Undergraduate students have an opportunity to get a head start on earning a business master’s degree, which can provide a strong foundation at the start of their careers. Rutgers Business School has designed two paths for undergraduate students to be seamlessly admitted into graduate-level programs that lead to a master’s degree: Gateway and Accelerated programs. By enrolling in a master’s program as an undergraduate student, you can save money on graduate tuition.*

Gateway Programs for current Rutgers Business School students

The following programs follow the admissions process detailed below.

Gateway to Master of Accountancy in Accounting and Analytics

Minimum Qualifications

  • Declare a business major in our Undergraduate New Brunswick or Newark program.
  • Junior or Senior level students with a completion of at least 75 undergraduate course credits can apply. A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and a major GPA (grade point average of all courses with 630 curriculum code) of 3.4 or higher.
  • Students must have completed and earned a B or better in either Business Research Methods (Newark) or Statistical Methods in Business (NB).

Note that satisfying the above minimum qualifications does not guarantee admission to the program. The program may impose a capacity limit, since there is a limit for the number of undergraduate students allowed in each graduate course.

Eligible Courses

Students in the Gateway MAccy AA program may be allowed to substitute up to 9 undergraduate business credits with 9 MAccy AA graduate credits, in selected MAccy AA courses in their junior or senior year. These credits may count towards their undergraduate degree as well as the MAccy AA graduate degree, subject to approval of the MAccy AA program director. We recommend that you start your application to the program 3 semesters before you graduate.

Please note that the credits cannot be double counted. In other words, if you use 9 credits of Gateway courses to satisfy your undergraduate 120 credit requirement,  you will only earn 21 graduate credits toward your graduate degree, resulting in a total of 141 credits and not 150.

Provided below are some course replacement possibilities (course numbers below may change when the courses are offered):

Next Steps

If you are a junior or senior considering a head start toward any of the master’s degrees listed above, we welcome your application to the Gateway program. This will allow you to take up to nine (9) credits while you are still an undergraduate student at Rutgers Business School. We recommend that you start your application to the program three semesters before you graduate.

When you apply, you will apply to the semester term following your undergraduate graduation. For example, if your graduation date is May 2025, you should select the summer or fall 2025 term.

Upon acceptance to the Gateway program, you will work with your undergraduate academic advisor and a graduate Program Coordinator to select your course(s). The best part is that you do not need to pay the graduate tuition for the nine (9) credits while registering them with your undergraduate courses.

Contact the Office of Graduate Admission for more information: 973-353-1234 or gateway@business.rutgers.edu.

*Must have an overall GPA of 3.00 for consideration.

*Ask your UG academic advisor if any of the nine (9) credits will double count toward your undergraduate curriculum.

*Please note that undergraduate students taking graduate courses in the summer term will be charged graduate tuition. When enrolled as an undergraduate student in graduate courses during the fall or spring semester, you will be charged undergraduate tuition.

Below is a list of pre-approved course substitutions by academic department. Students may be allowed to take other MBA courses within the 9-credit limit, subject to the approval of the MBA program director.
