League of Conservation Voters recognizes Rutgers with Sustainability Award

The work of Rutgers Business School’s Institute for Corporate Social Innovation contributed to the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters recently selecting Rutgers University to receive its coveted Sustainability Award.

“Our collaborations with the Rutgers Institute for Corporate Social Innovation have been invaluable,” Ed Potosnak, executive director of the League of Conservation Voters (LCV), wrote in a letter to Rutgers University President William Tate. “Together with RICSI, we have been able to connect corporate leaders, policymakers and community advocates to push forward bold solutions for a cleaner, healthier future.”

RICSI was formed inside Rutgers Business School in 2018. Its purpose is to develop the next generation of corporate social innovation leaders and to be a leading academic partner in addressing society’s most pressing issues.

"Our relationship with NJ LCV represents the best kind of collaborative action we need—grounded in equity, driven by community, and informed by research,” said Jeana Wirtenberg, a Rutgers Business School professor and executive director of the Institute for Corporate Social Innovation. “We are honored to share in this prestigious award.”

In addition to its work with RICSI, the LCV also cited its collaboration with the Rutgers Institute for Public Health in co-hosting the Gubernatorial Environment and Public Health Forum and its ability to host the Art of Conservation at the Zimmerli Art Museum as reasons for its recognition of the university.

Rutgers will be recognized during the LCV’s 12th Annual Gala in June. More than 500 supporters, environmental champions, business leaders, and elected officials are expected to attend.
