Leader in undergraduate entrepreneurship programs chosen as Fulbright Specialist

Alfred Blake, assistant director of undergraduate entrepreneurship programs, is among the newest group of professionals to be chosen as Fulbright Specialists.

The Fulbright Specialist program is run by the U.S. State Departments Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Participants are selected based on their skills, knowledge and ability to make a significant contribution to projects globally

Blake, who joined Rutgers Business School in 2014, founded the Entrepreneurship Living, Learning Community for entrepreneurial-minded incoming students. He also founded the Entrepreneurial Academy of Leadership and has taught entrepreneurial and leadership skills to students across Rutgers University.

"This opportunity resonates deeply with me because I am inherently altruistic and have made the lifelong commitment to leverage my experiences to support and uplift others who can benefit from them.” Blake said. His tenure as a Fulbright specialist runs through 2027.

Blake said that working on a project in another part of the world will not only broaden his leadership skills but also provide him with the opportunity to learn different processes and new ways of thinking, which he looks forward to sharing with Rutgers students.

“Rutgers Business School does an amazing job at exposing our students to business around the world. I am eager to add to that work and create a lasting impact while enhancing Rutgers' visibility through this international exchange.” - Alfred Blake

More than 400 Fulbright Specialists travel abroad each year to 160 countries and areas around the world. The programs host institutions include universities, government institutions and non-governmental organizations.

Some of the projects assigned to participants include delivering workshops and seminars, consulting on faculty or workforce development and developing academic or training curricula.

Blake said he hopes to be assigned a project within the year.

“Rutgers Business School does an amazing job at exposing our students to business around the world,” he said. “I am eager to add to that work and create a lasting impact while enhancing Rutgers' visibility through this international exchange.”
