Graduates in the Master of Accountancy in Governmental Accounting program now have the opportunity to qualify as a Chartered Public Finance Accountant (CPFA) and to join the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) in the UK, the only professional accountancy body in the world exclusively dedicated to public finance.
The Chartered Public Finance Accountant (CPFA) is an internationally recognized designation and will be awarded by CIPFA to Masters in Governmental Accounting graduates who elect to complete CIPFA’s International Public Financial Management (IPFM) qualification.
The CIPFA IPFM builds on and extends the knowledge you have gained in the governmental accounting program and reflects the evolving environment and challenges faced in managing public finances effectively wherever you are in the world.
How It Works
The parallels between the Rutgers Masters in Governmental Accounting program and the CIPFA IPFM qualification mean that as a graduate, you will be exempt from 11 of the 12 IPFM exams.
To gain to the IPFM qualification – and then the CPFA designation – you will need to successfully complete two CIPFA e-learning modules and the CIPFA case study examination, before applying for CIPFA membership and your CPFA designation.
This is a great opportunity for those who wish to practice government accounting outside the US and for US-based international institutions.
