Rutgers Business School becomes largest public university Ph.D. program in the country
Rutgers Business School now has the most successful and largest Ph.D. program in a public-university business school in the country. Most of its students complete their degrees within 5 years. The program now has 150 students in their first five years, including one of the largest groups of under-represented minorities in any business-school doctoral program.
During the 1990s, business schools across the US downsized their Ph.D. programs by a third, leading to a growing shortage of business school faculty that is now hindering business training in the country. In contrast, Rutgers has expanded, increasing the number of students who receive financial support, and also opening doors to students with scholarships from foreign governments. Rutgers also accepts domestic and international students who are willing to finance their own doctoral study.
“We are addressing a national problem by successfully placing our graduates in business schools across the country,” said Glenn Shafer, Dean of Rutgers Business School.

Since 1978, Rutgers Business School (RBS) has trained leaders in business scholarship through its PhD programs.
