Externship Objective
It may also be called a “job shadow” experience where a student has the opportunity to spend a day or a few days observing an employee in a specific job function. They are unpaid and no academic credit is granted. They can be located in a wide variety of places. Students have the chance to ask questions and understand what the day-to-day job responsibilities entail. It allows students to continue to explore options to see if it would be the right fit for them. Examples of activities on an Externship: Observe a manager in action on the job, attend a meeting, participate as an observer on teleconference calls.

- Commitment: 1 day, a few days, 1 week – varies by company
- Periods: Typically fall semester and some spring opportunities
- No credit is granted

Typically Freshman and sometimes Sophomore students

Through the events and learning activities on-campus, you will meet professionals in a variety of industries. Students have been able to find Externships on Raidernet and through students clubs in such companies as Prudential and Johnson and Johnson.
