All the undergraduate business students participating in the May graduation ceremony should attend both the RBS Ceremony and the University Commencement to represent Rutgers Business School - New Brunswick. During University Commencement you will see your name scroll on the stadium ribbon board, and enjoy special videos, graduate shout-outs to family and friends, Mother’s Day salutes, photo montages, and more. With thousands of guests saluting the culmination of your achievement, it will be a day you will never forget.

 

RBS Undergraduate - New Brunswick Convocation

Your other must-attend graduation ceremony is this intimate event, where you’ll join with your graduating class and faculty members to receive individual recognition. Rutgers Business School - New Brunswick, will include the following:

  • Undergraduate students will be individually recognized and receive their RBS pins
  • Individual photographs of each student will be taken
  • Departmental awards for graduates will be presented
  • Thomas H. Mott, Jr. Award for Excellence in Teaching will be awarded
  • Refreshments will follow the ceremony

Please mark your calendars for both the RBS Convocation and University Commencement.

Seniors who will be completing their degree requirements during the summer of 2012 as an October 2012 grad will be permitted to walk at the RBS Convocation and University Commencement on May 13, 2012.

 

Graduating with Honors: College Honors cords will be available to students with a 3.5 cumulative GPA or above as of the fall 2011 semester. Gold honors cords may be picked up at the Undergraduate Dean’s Office, located in the Janice Levin Building starting Monday, April 2, 2012. Gold cords will be provided by the Undergraduate Dean’s Office without charge, to honor your outstanding academic performance.

Beta Gamma Sigma members: You may pick up your royal blue and gold honor cord at the RBS Undergraduate Dean’s Office starting Monday, April 2, 2012.

Beta Alpha Psi members: You may pick up your cords from Dornell Haurey in the Accounting Department, room 243 starting Monday April 2, 2012.

Caps and Gowns:  Rutgers Business School students will have their own individual RBS graduation gowns this year, which are black with a red panel down the front middle.  They can purchase their cap, gown and gold hood (which indicates a Bachelor of Science degree) at the Barnes and Noble College Bookstore, Ferren Mall in New Brunswick (732-246-8448). They will be available starting April 3, 2012 through graduation day.  The regalia will not be sold at any of the other bookstores.    If preferred, orders can be placed online, and the regalia shipped within 5 business days.  The bookstore website is:  http://rutgers.bncollege.com/.  On the site, graduates can scroll to the bottom button which will take them to the screen with details on the GRAD Fair, which will run from April 3rd to April 5thhttp://rutgers.bncollege.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/BNCBAnnouncementsView?langId=-1&storeId=58552&catalogId=10001 

There is an estimated charge of $70 for the cap, gown, red and black tassel and gold hood.   The red and black tassel for the cap should start on the student’s right and be moved during the ceremony to the left. 

Surveys: Before you are permitted to pick up invitations, you are required to fill out two online surveys which will be e-mailed to your eden account. Please complete the two online surveys before you come to the Dean’s office on April 16, 2012.

Invitations: Invitations to the RBS Convocation and University Commencement may be picked up in the Undergraduate Dean’s Office, located in the Janice Levin building starting Monday, April 16, 2012. Packets of six are available and you may invite as many guests as you wish to either ceremony.

Parking: The suggested parking zone for the RBS Convocation, which is located on Busch Campus, is the BLUE parking zone. Parking Lots 59, 60A, 60B and 64 are the lots you should park in since they are the closest lots to the Engineering Quad. Lot 53 is available for special needs individuals that have cars with government issued handicapped parking placards. Students are entitled to 2 free parking permits. Students can go online using their net IDS to request parking permits for the May 13th ceremonies. Please make sure you have worked out your plans with your guests before registering for additional parking permits online. Once graduating students have been enabled to register for their two free hangtags through Sunday, April 8th, additional hangtags will be available for purchase for $5.00 per hangtag. Parking registration is available on the University Commencement website.

Handicap Seating: There will be handicapped seating available under the Engineering Quad Tent and at High Point Solutions Stadium. Reservations are not necessary, first come first serve.

Convocation Ceremony, Photography & Diploma: The RBS Convocation Ceremony will begin promptly at 9:30am and will last approximately 2 hours. After the speeches are concluded, graduates will approach the platform by department and by last name. As each graduate’s name is called, they will walk across the stage to receive their RBS gonfalon pin and a professional photographer will take their picture. Diplomas are NOT given out at the RBS Convocation Ceremony. Diplomas will be mailed to the address listed on your diploma application approximately 4-6 weeks after graduation.

Refreshments: Refreshments will be offered in a nearby tent, compliments of the RBS Undergraduate Dean’s Office, at the conclusion of the Convocation Ceremony for RBS students and their guests to enjoy before attending the High Point Solutions Stadium for the University Commencement.

There will be one hour from the end of the RBS Convocation Ceremony before the University Commencement begins. Students and guests can walk the short distance or they can use the shuttle services available if needed. Shuttle service will be available from Lot 53 on Busch Campus.
