Women's Business Leadership Initiative
About WBLI
The Women’s Business Leadership Initiative (WBLI) was created with the emerging female business leader in mind. This program which began in the fall of 2007, is designed to provide Rutgers Business School (RBS) students with structured opportunities to examine the impact of gender on leadership while honing the attributes required for each participant to refine and develop their unique leadership style.
WBLI is a three year program focused on undergraduate women enrolled in Rutgers Business School. Students apply the spring of their freshman or sophomore year to begin in the following fall semester. Each participant is required to take a leadership seminar which focuses on various leadership styles, presentations from guest speakers as well as the interpersonal skills required for effective leadership. Sophomores complete a community leadership development project and partner with a local organization to address a need or issue. Junior participants must apply to the WINGs program and take the course Women Leading in Business, while aggressively pursuing a summer internship opportunity. Our senior members coordinate and execute our annual leadership brunch, mentor the underclassmen and while participating in the Rutgers Business School Mentor Program. In addition to the specific objectivesbased on their year of enrollment, members are also required to attend a variety of events that to network and interface with industry professionals.
