The New Jersey Needs You gathering probably had the biggest number of Garden State cheerleaders, among them Mark Savino, who works at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. and grew up in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, and Joseph Gasparro, who works at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and has an MBA from Rutgers Business School.

"My goal is to open up all the secrets to getting a job and building a career after college,” Gasparro, a co-chairman of the Young Leadership Board said. “How to interview, what to wear -- we also buy them a suit.”

Beauty Entrepreneurs from Rutgers Combine Business and Science to build a Global Brand

Growing up in Jamaica, Tashni-Ann Dubroy would watch her hairstylist mother concoct moisturizing conditioners for clients using everyday products – aloe vera from their backyard, eggs and mayonnaise from their refrigerator.

Tashni-Ann, who recently graduated from the Rutgers Business School’s MBA program, is putting those observations to good use.

She and business partner, Tiffani Bailey Lash, had launched a fledgling line of natural hair care products in 2009, and recently their company, Tea and Honey Blends, won top honors and $35,000 in the 2011 Rutgers Business School Business Plan Competition, along with gaining entry into a select Macy’s vendor program.

Established in 1984, its purpose is to disseminate “ideas worth spreading” through conferences, video, online media, local events, and other initiatives.
