Rutgers Business School repeats as a finalist in the 2009 NYSSA Investment Research Challenge

February 9, 2009

Once again, a team of Rutgers Business School students have made it to the Top Four in the 7th Annual NYSSA Investment Research Challenge along with other top business schools Columbia, Fordham, and Yale. Team members are: Nathan Greenhut, Elise Polezel, Sonali Chandra, Steve Catera, and Tony Zhang. Their research about Phillips - Van Heusen Corp. allows RBS to compete for another victory in the competition – Rutgers students won first place in 2008 beating out seven other top business schools. That winning team was awarded $5,000 in scholarship funds for RBS, in addition to the opportunity to ring the NASDAQ Stock Market's closing bell at the NASDAQ MarketSite at Times Square.

The finals for this year’s competition will take place Thursday, February 19th, from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Thomson Reuters (3 Times Square). The remaining four teams will present to a panel of Wall Street luminaries. Top NYSSA members, board members and others in the financial industry will be in attendance as the winning team is announced.

The Investment Research Challenge is a six-month educational initiative in which leading industry professionals teach business and finance students how to research and report on a publicly traded company. It consists of training in research and report writing, analysis of a public company, mentoring by a professional research analyst, assessment of written reports, and presentation of research to a high-profile panel of Wall Street experts.

Business students are encouraged to participate in a variety of conferences and competitions that reflect the Rutgers Business School focus of delivering the business, science, and technology credentials that global employers demand. In conducting real-world investment research with the help of NYSSA and Wall Street professionals, RBS students have the opportunity to take full advantage of the school’s deep industry connections and resources.
