What All Graduates Should Know
We will serve a complimentary reception for graduates in the lobby of Ackerson Hall, 123. Upon check-in, students will be given a name card (which will also serve as your NJPAC admission ticket). The name card will be used to announce your name, honors and awards.

Q. How many guests can I invite to the convocation?
A. Graduates who indicated "attending" the convocation are entitled up to four (4) free tickets for their guests. Additional tickets may be available for purchase at a later time. Everyone who enters the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) must have a ticket, including infants (babes-in-arms) and children.
Q. What should I wear under my regalia?
A. Please make sure that the clothing and shoes you wear are in good taste and comfortable. Even in warm weather, men should wear long pants. Women are encouraged to consider wearing low pumps or flats.
Q. What should I not bring?
A. You should not carry purses, cameras, flowers, etc. Your hands should be free to shake hands with the Dean, receive your diploma and take professional photographs.
Q. What time do I need to be on campus? Where should I go?
A. All graduates should plan to arrive on campus no later than 4:30pm. A continental reception will be available at that time. MBA, MQF, MACCY, and MIT students should check in at Ackerson Hall, room 123. Executive MBA, International Executive MBA and MBA-Professional Accounting students should check in at the Center for Urban and Public Service, rooms 104 and 105. Graduates will line up with their program promptly at 5:15pm and process to New Street, where we will complete the lineup of all graduates outside.
Q. What time is line up and the procession?
A. Students will begin to line up at 5:00pm on New Street Plaza. The procession begins at 5:45pm sharp! Graduates will walk approximately four (4) blocks from the Newark campus to NJPAC.
Q. Is there a rehearsal for convocation?
A. There will not be a rehearsal for students. All necessary information will be relayed to you prior to the convocation, when you check in and line up.
Q. Will there be a professional photographer at the convocation?
A. Yes, professional photographers will take individual photos of each graduate. Each graduate will take two (2) shots: standing pose and as they receive their diploma.
Q. What if it rains?
A. In the event of rain, graduates are strongly encouraged to bring and wear their own rain gear. We will process from the campus to NJPAC rain or shine.
