- In the aftermath of the 2002 Tyco International scandal, involving the excesses by its former chairman and CEO and other senior managers, Tyco International’s new CEO, Ed Breen, assembled a new senior management team to lead the company’s efforts to build an ethical organizational culture. The Institute for Ethical Leadership welcomed three key executives to its speaker series titled The Tyco Story: Past Present & Future – How to Recover from Unethical Management Behavior. During the November 14, 2011 event, the Tyco executives discussed their experiences working closely with senior management to build and promote a culture of ethics and integrity across a highly-diversified global company. Tyco Executives took participants through approaches to address and promote a culture of ethics and integrity in a complex and ever changing world. They shared the Tyco Story, the difficult past, the much improved present and plans for the future.
- Foreign Corrupt Practices Act & Risk Assessment, held on December 2, 2010, gave a historical perspective on the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and how effective leaders can create an organizational culture equipped to handle the regulatory and legal environment that accompanies the new global marketplace.

Third Annual Ethical Leadership Conference
We recognize that there are gaps in ethical leadership in any field, industry or sector. Rutgers Institute for Ethical Leadership hosted its Third Annual Ethical Leadership Conference Thursday, May 3rd & Friday, May 4, 2012, to address ethical issues within higher education, what it takes to build an organizational culture imbued in ethics, and how leaders from business, government, nonprofit and higher education can learn from each other to raise up organizations that positively impact civil society.
Second Annual Ethical Leadership Conference Authentic Leadership in the Age of Social Media was held on April 6, 2011, sponsored by Merck. Participants heard from Mr. Kenneth C. Frazier, CEO and President of Merck, Dr. Richard S. Bowles, Executive Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer, Merck, Mr. Frank Clyburn, Senior Vice President, Global Pharmaceutical Franchises and Market Access, Merck, Mr. Bill George, former Chairman and CEO of Medtronic, Harvard Business School Professor, and author of 4 best-selling books (7 Lessons for Leading in Crisis, True North, Finding Your True North, and Authentic Leadership), and social media expert, Mr. Larry Weintraub, CEO and Co-founder of Fanscape, a social media marketing agency.

First Annual Ethical Leadership Conference: Strengthening Public Trust Through Every Generation was held March 24, 2010. John R. Strangfeld, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, Prudential, delivered the opening address to an audience of 130 business managers and leaders. Keith Darcy, Executive Director, Ethics & Compliance Officer Association, spoke about how ethical behaviors create ethical cultures. Cam Marston, President and Founder, Generational Insight, presented his research on four generations in the workforce.
