A Day in the EMBA Program

Why Rutgers EMBA? Because That’s What Friends are For.
REMBA Holiday Party, December 2011

The Rutgers EMBA program not only has a well deserved reputation for exceptional teaching quality but you can also count on excellent staff support.  You begin your EMBA experience without the hassles of interminable lines at the college bookstore or the Registrar’s office.  As discussed elsewhere in this website, we deal with all your class registration and also provide you with textbooks, software, coupons for parking, etc.

Week in Residence

Each of the four semesters begins with a week-in-residence at the Dolce, Basking Ridge in Basking Ridge, NJ.  The first week-in-residence begins on the Sunday following Labor Day.  Typically, one subject is taught in the morning, followed by another in the afternoon after lunch.  Every class has a coffee break with snacks and refreshments.  In some cases, short classes are also conducted after dinner.

Morale in our program is very high and is owed, in no small part, to the sense of camaraderie fostered among our students.  The week-in-residence allows the Executives to get acquainted with their classmates and their individual learning teams.  Students refer to the week-in-residence as an “intensive, yet exhilarating” experience.

Regular Sessions

After the week in residence, the Saturday of Week Two is spent in class on the Newark Campus (1 Washington Park).  The morning class is held from 8:30-12:15, with a coffee break at 10:15.

Lunch is from 12:15 to 1:15.  Forget everything that you remember about lunch at educational institutions!  This is anything but that.  The food in Rutgers EMBA is excellent; the coffee is gourmet and the desserts are legendary.  The fact that our alumni often choose to drop by conveniently at lunch time should tell you something!

Go ahead - check out a typical EMBA menu In fact, plan to stay for lunch after an Open House.  (The first two Open Houses will be on EMBA class days and you are encouraged to attend a class so that you can get a feel for our program.)

Following lunch, classes resume at 1:15.  One subject is taught in the morning followed by a different class in the afternoon.  Classes end at 5pm with a coffee break at 3pm.

The Executives are back for class on the Friday of Week Three, covering two different subjects that day.  Normally, EMBAs meet every alternate Friday and Saturday from Week Three to the end of the semester.  To facilitate your scheduling, a detailed list of every class date for the first year (the first two semesters) can be viewed here.

We hope to see you soon at a Rutgers Executive MBA Open House!
