A message from Anthony McKenzie, Rutgers EMBA 2003 and Recipient of the 2003 Leon Wojtenko Award.

I just wanted to drop a line wishing you all at Rutgers EMBA a Happy Thanksgiving holiday.  As a point of interest, I recently received a Dell Customer Experience Silver Award from the VP of Sales, Higher Education Division for the work that I did in the fiscal 3rd quarter, specifically for my efforts in developing and piloting an innovative acquisition sales model that has resulted in an incremental sales increase of over $10 mm and a productivity increase of over 8% within 7 weeks of implementation during the company’s fiscal 3rd Quarter, 2003.  This is the same sales model that I spoke about at Prof. Jagpal's marketing class during the EMBA Week in Residence this past September.

The award was totally unexpected, but it is a very welcome feeling to be recognized for the work that I’ve done and the success that has been generated from my efforts.  The VP himself nominated me for the award which I have come to understand, is one that is highly coveted in the organization (particularly for someone as new to the organization as myself, being here for only four months!).  Thanks to Rutgers EMBA for giving me this opportunity to shine at Dell!

A Note from EMBA Director, Prof. Langdana:

After a series of interviews, Anthony was interviewed by Michael Dell himself, given the high-level nature of the position.  Rapid-fire questions on marketing, statistics, and microeconomics extended through the dinner!  Someone asked him what one has for dinner with Michael Dell and Anthony replied that he was so focused on answering the questions that he has absolutely no recollection of dinner!  The fact is that he did answer the questions perfectly - we are all very proud of him.

This Just In:

Anthony informs us that he took on the role of Project Area Sales Manager (PASM), assisting in the management of a $1.5 Billion Sales site in the new McGregor , TX location (formerly in Waco, TX ). This included the oversight of the hiring and training of 350 sales site personnel, providing leadership in delivering attainment of company goals in all key call center operational and sales metrics, as well as leading the National Sales, Outbound and Resolution program (SOAR). In a short period of time, Anthony was able to deliver significant gains in new hire performance as well as operational efficiencies that have translated into revenue and margin gains for the McGregor site, helping to move to site to deliver a 381% improvement in Op-Inc performance.

He began a new role recently as the Area Sales Manager for the Round Rock Sales Site, the 2nd largest Consumer sales site at Dell, where he will be overseeing a $2.4 Billion sales organization, spanning 420 sales reps.
