Giving to Rutgers
Much of Rutgers Business School – Newark and New Brunswick’s success is rooted in the generosity of its alumni and friends. Gifts – large and small – have helped us to grow, provide assistance to bright and deserving students, and advance the knowledge of management theory and practice. We extend our sincere thinks to everyone who has supported us over the past 75 years. Following are just a few examples of the countless benefactors who have touched the RBS community.
Donor Highlights
June 2005 - Pitney Bowes Inc. pledged $100,000 toward the endowment of a Chair in Postal Economics at Rutgers University's Center for Research on Regulated Industries (CRRI) at the annual Conference on Postal and Delivery Economics in Antwerp, Belgium. Luis A. Jimenez, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Pitney Bowes, the global leader in integrated mail and document management solutions, presented the endowment check to center director Michael A. Crew, finance and economics, saying: "This pledge is to help you endow a Chair to conduct research in Postal Economics and continue to organize annual conferences in this field. All of us at Pitney Bowes have been very impressed with CRRI's accomplishments in the past years to help us better understand the economics of the mailing industry."
March 2005 - Rutgers University Board of Governors Chairman Albert R. Gamper Jr. and the CIT Group Inc. recently pledged matching $1 million gifts to create an endowed chair in business in Gamper’s name. Gamper retired as chairman, president and CEO of CIT in 2004. He joined the company in 1987 and helped it grow into one of the world’s leading diversified finance organizations. Gamper, who received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Rutgers-Newark in 1966, feels it is important to support business education at the university. “A business school is an appropriate investment for a business leader,” says Gamper. “If it encourages others to put their money into a chair for the school, I think it could make a big difference. It could mean attracting even more outstanding faculty to Rutgers, better research, more top students, and, ultimately, better rankings.”
