Description:
Professor Kevin Kolben is a recognized expert on transnational labor regulation and the governance of labor in international supply chains. A lawyer, he is a frequent presenter at conferences and universities in the U.S. and internationally, including at Harvard Law School, Notre Dame Law School, and Stanford Law School. Professor Kolben has also been an invited speaker at various governmental and non-governmental organizations around the world, including the European Parliament in Brussels, and the Confederation of Indian Industry in India. He also frequently visits and teaches at leading universities around the world, including the Buchmann Faculty of Law at Tel Aviv University, and he will be a visiting senior fellow at the University of Melbourne Law School in May 2010. He also regularly advises and consults with various governmental and non-governmental organizations such as the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Professor Kolben’s current research projects examine the linkages between labor regulation and development, non-state forms of labor governance in global supply chains, and new models of labor regulation in developing country contexts. His work has appeared in various journals, including the Harvard International Law Journal, the Virginia Journal of International Law, and the UCLA Journal of International Law, among others.

Prior to joining the faculty at Rutgers Business School, Professor Kolben was a senior associate with Human Rights First in its Workers Rights Department where he worked on issues of corporate accountability and international labor regulation.  Professor Kolben holds a B.A. from Oberlin College, a J.D. from the University of Michigan, as well as an M.A. in South Asian Studies also from the University of Michigan.
