Admissions

Admission to the RBS Undergraduate–New Brunswick program is competitive and based on a careful evaluation of the academic qualifications of each candidate in accordance with policies and procedures established by the school’s Committee on Admissions and University regulations. The selective admissions policy is designed to deal with the size limitation of the school and growing student demand in an equitable manner.  Students may be admitted for a fall semester only.  There is no spring admission to the RBS Undergraduate-New Brunswick program.

Because the mission of the program is to provide an undergraduate education, priority is given to those applicants who are pursuing their first bachelor's degree. Those who already have a bachelor's degree and are interested in business education should give serious consideration to continuing their studies in Rutgers Business School’s MBA program.

Admissions Process for Fall 2010

  • Direct Admission from High School: Offers of admission to Rutgers Business School’s Undergraduate–New Brunswick Program (RBSNB) will be made to high-achieving high school students. High school seniors apply online at the Undergraduate Admissions website www.admission.rutgers.edu.  Students admitted directly from high school will be guided to complete the six course eligibility requirements during their freshman year and the first semester of their sophomore year at the Rutgers Business School-New Brunswick. Since it is important for RBSNB students to maintain the high standards for which the program is noted, these direct-admit students will be required to maintain a minimum grade-point-average of a 3.000 by the end of the first semester of their sophomore year in order to declare a business major and begin taking business courses during the second semester of their sophomore year at the Rutgers Business School.

  • Admission to Junior Year from other Rutgers University Schools: Students who are registered during the fall 2009 semester at another Rutgers University School  and who have at least  sophomore status will have an opportunity to apply to RBSNB for fall 2010 using a school-to-school application process. The application period will occur from December 1, 2009-January 15, 2010 at the admissions school-to-school transfer websitehttp://admissions.rutgers.edu/SchoolToSchool/.  If all eligibility requirements have been met by the end of the spring 2010 semester, students will be admitted to RBSNB starting in fall 2010.  Summer 2010 coursework will NOT be included in the review.

Students Transferring from Schools Outside of Rutgers University

  • Students who are transferring from schools outside of Rutgers University must first be admitted to the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) for spring 2010 or fall 2010 in order to be eligible for admission to the Rutgers Business School-New Brunswick undergraduate program for fall 2010.

  • Spring 2010 SAS Transfers:  Students transferring into SAS for the spring 2010 who have at least second semester sophomore status may apply to the RBSNB for fall 2010 from January 11-22, 2010.  No online application will be available; paper applications will be available at the RBSNB Dean’s Office, Janice Levin Building, Room 112, Livingston Campus, beginning January 11, 2010, or at the SAS STAR Day in January.    Students must complete all eligibility requirements by the end of the spring of 2010 semester to be eligible for fall 2010 admission.  Summer 2010 coursework will NOT be included in the review.

  • Fall 2010 SAS Transfers:  Students transferring into SAS for fall 2010 who will have junior status by the end of the spring 2010 may apply to the RBSNB for fall 2010 from July 1-August 2, 2010.   No online application will be available; paper applications will be available at the RBSNB Dean’s Office, Janice Levin Building, Room 112, Livingston Campus, beginning July 1, 2010.   Students must complete all eligibility requirements by the end of the spring 2010 semester to be eligible for fall 2010 admission.  Summer 2010 coursework will NOT be included in the review.

Transfer students admitted to RBSNB for fall 2010 will have joint status with RBSNB and SAS for the fall 2010 semester, and will be required to attain a Rutgers-New Brunswick grade point average for fall 2010 of a 3.000 based on a minimum of 12 credits.   Students who have a minimum GPA of 3.000 at the end of the fall 2010 semester will become students with RBSNB only effective for the spring 2011 semester.

Questions about the transfer application process may be directed to the RBSNB Dean’s Office at (732) 445-3600.

"What motivates me is the ambition to achieve big things professionally and personally.  I have met some of the most driven, focused people here.  The evidence of student leadership is apparent.  My classmates are very well-rounded – everyone I know is passionately involved in so much more than just their classes...."
