Professor Mahmud Hassan talks about New Jersey ’s thriving pharmaceutical industry and its high demand for graduates of Rutgers Business School ’s prestigious MBA program in pharmaceutical management. Dr. Hassan is director of the program, as well as of the Blanche and Irwin Lerner Center for Pharmaceutical Management Studies at RBS. " New Jersey is the hub of the pharmaceutical industry. Twelve of the 15 largest pharmaceutical companies are headquartered here, and the state's largest share of income comes from the bio-tech industry," says Hassan. "The industry came to Rutgers in 2000 asking for a specialized program in pharmaceutical management leading to the MBA degree." Seven companies stepped up and sponsored the program and gave their resources." These were Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Novartis, Roche, Organon, Eisai (a Japanese company), and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
