About the program
This program is intended primarily for students who will later pursue doctoral study in information technology or accounting information systems. Students in the program take many of the same courses as students in the Rutgers Business School doctoral programs in information technology and accounting information systems.
The program also prepares students to manage significant software development projects and lead teams of information technology professionals engaged in design, analysis, implementation, and service delivery. But because of the program’s emphasis on theory, students who are primarily interested in management should instead apply to the Rutgers MBA.
Students who earn a Master of Information Technology and specialize in accounting information systems may pursue careers in Information Risk Management with public accounting firms, who need employees with expertise in computer auditing and risk management. These same skills can also be applied in internal auditing for the review and analysis of corporate computer systems.
Applicants are expected to have a bachelor’s degree and basic knowledge in calculus and statistics. We particularly welcome applicants with undergraduate degrees in business, industrial engineering, library science, information technology, computer science, and related fields.
Students may take the program on a full-time or part-time basis. Full-time students can complete the program in one year.
Tuition costs are the same as for the RBS doctoral programs. Financial aid is not available through the program, but the program is closely associated with two research centers that employ students and bring them into contact with their industry and government partners:
