Rutgers/VICS Logistics Summit

The Center for Supply Chain Management at Rutgers Business School and the Voluntary Interindustry Commerce Solutions (VICS) Association held a joint Logistics Summit on September 27-28, 2011, on the Rutgers-Livingston campus in New Brunswick. The Summit featured interactive sessions led by practitioners, academics and other industry experts.

Joe Andraski, President and CEO of VICS, started off the first day of the summit with a talk titled “VICS and The Perfect Storm,” and Prof. Dale Rogers of Rutgers continued with “The Future of Global Logistics.” Industry leaders from Schneider National, CSX Railroad, Kimberly Clark, Macy’s National Retail Systems and Maersk presented a series of discussions on specific issues in transportation, including case studies. Day two of the Summit featured workshops on transportation issues by Dan Mullaly of FedEx and EPC-enabled RFID by Sue Hutchinson of GS1 US, and then the keynote address “CSCMP and the Transportation Challenge” by Rick Blasgen, President & CEO of the Council for Supply Chain Management Professionals.

“The Rutgers community was pleased to host such a renowned group of speakers, with the support of VICS and its members, on an increasingly important topic. By combining the expertise and experience of practitioners, academics, trade group executives and others in the field, we can better address the opportunities to drive inefficiencies out of the supply chain,” said Rogers of Rutgers.
