Advanced Standing: Flex MBA Students

The MBA degree normally requires a minimum of 60 credits. However, Flex students may receive advanced standing/transfer credit for prior academic work. All requests for advanced standing by Flex MBA students must be made via submitting the “Application for Advanced Standing/Transfer Credit – PT Students” by the end of the first semester of the program. A student may be considered for a maximum of 12 credits of advanced standing credits. Students will receive 2 credits toward their MBA curriculum for undergraduate courses that are 3 or more credits and meet the Advanced Standing criteria. If a student does not submit a request for advanced standing by the end of their first semester, they forfeit the opportunity to receive advanced standing for courses taken prior to enrolling in the Rutgers MBA program. All students are required to complete a minimum of 48 credits in residence at Rutgers MBA program.

CPA License

A student who is a CPA will receive three credits for the core accounting course. To receive credit, please include a copy of your CPA license with your request. Please include your Rutgers Identification (RUID) number in the top right corner of the license.

Challenge Exams

Students may apply to sit for a challenge examination in a select number of core courses. There is a $50 fee for each examination. The Challenge exam schedule and information are posted below. Challenge exams must be taken in advance of the start of the semester in which the course is offered. A student may not take a challenge examination for the same course more than once or for a course they have taken and failed. MBA credit is given for exams successfully passed. A Flex student has four (4) semesters to complete challenge exams.

Note: Challenge exam credits are part of the 12 credits of Advanced Standing.
